<p>The cpd. is of mol. wt. 3000-4500 alpha D23-20 degrees (C = 0.4% H2O) 123 u/mg and has the property of reducing calcium levels in serum. It is isolated from the endocardium and/or the tissues forming the hollow vein attached to the oesophagus near to the heart of eels esp. anguilla japonica. The extn. is carried out by conventional means esp. by a polar organic solvent or an aq. acid soln. or water. The proportions of amino acid present are given.</p> |
