Toothpaste contg corrosion inhibitors

Toothpastes containing glycerine, water and chloroform, which could corrode their aluminium containers, also contain a quantity of urea, biuret, gelatine, benzoic acid or its water-soluble salts or mixtures of these as corrosion-inhibitors. Preferred toothpaste contain 0.1-5% urea, 0.5-5% biuret, 0.1-5% gelatine or 0.5-5% benzoic acid or -salt. Relatively small amounts of additive reduce the corrosion of the aluminium containers considerably. Urea and biuret also act as therapeutic agents, gelatine acts as binding agent and sodium benzoate as preserving agent.
