<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact being commonly usable independently or in combination with an insulator and adaptable to a narrower pitch, and having a reliable clicking feel when fitted to a lock means, and to provide a connector using the same. <P>SOLUTION: At least one plate-shaped contact 20 is formed of a conductive material. At least two zigzag-branch divided contact pieces 26 including contact portions 24 for contacting a first connected object are provided at at least one front end of the contact 20, and the contact 20 has connection parts 28 connected to a second connected object. In the contact 20, the divided contact pieces 26 and the connection parts 28 are provided extending to each other, and an extending portion 32 is provided with a contact-engaging means 30 for contact-engaging with the divided contact pieces 26.
