<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a river purification type hydraulic power generation unit capable of purifying polluted river water in a purifying tank and generating power by the head of the river water flow. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The river purification type hydraulic power generation unit is provided along a river flow 3, and comprises a power generator 2, a water-purifying and storage tank 6, a waterfall pipe 7, a shaft 8, a propeller 9, a polluted water purifying apparatus 11, a water feed tunnel 13, a water swell sensor 26, and a water discharging passage 23. The water-purifying and storage tank 6, the waterfall pipe 7 and the propeller 9 are connected to each other orthogonal to the ground 1. The water of the river water flow 3 is purified, passes through the waterfall pipe 7 with its lower portion formed in an elliptical shape, and is collided with the propeller 9, and the shaft 8 is rotated to generate power by the power generator 2. The purified water is returned to the river water fall 3 through the water feed tunnel 13. When the river water is swollen, the water swell sensor 26 is reacted, the water flow collided with the propeller 9 is discharged into the sea 22 through the water discharging passage 23 to prevent the overflow of the river.
