<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional image display apparatus capable of generating and scattering a group of light beams needed to display a stereoscopic image with spatially high density, naturally guiding the line of sight of an observer to the stereoscopic image, and displaying the stereoscopic image having small aberration. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The three-dimensional image display apparatus includes an optical system comprising: a light source 10 comprising U<SB>0</SB>×V<SB>0</SB>planar light-emitting members 11 arranged like a two-dimensional matrix; a two-dimensional image forming device 30 producing a two-dimensional image and diffraction light having a plurality of diffraction orders based on the two-dimensional image; a first lens L<SB>1</SB>; a Fourier transform image selection means SF selecting a desired Fourier transform image in Fourier transform images produced by the first lens L<SB>1</SB>; a second lens L<SB>2</SB>; and a third lens L<SB>3</SB>. Further, the apparatus includes a two-dimensional image data sending-out means sending out two-dimensional image data corrected in aberration caused by the optical system to the two-dimensional image forming device.
