SOLUTION: In the method for removing and recovering the buffer material 4 in the buried disposal facilities for the radioactive waste where the waste 3 encapsulating the radioactive waste are buried, being surrounded by the buffer material 4 composed mainly of bentonite, the removal and recovery work on the buffer material 4 can be carried out efficiently even in the burial facilities for the radioactive waste where a long period has passed after the burial of the waste 3 because the infiltration of salt water into the buffer material 4 forces the buffer material 4 to disintegrate after drying the buffer material 4 by blowing air against the buffer material 4 and then a suspension consisting of the salt water and the disintegrated buffer material 4 is set to be recovered.
