<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter in which diffraction phenomenon of light caused in a boundary part between a light shielding region and a colored transmission region is suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided the color filter having first and second colored transmission regions 12 of hue different from each other, and a light shielding region 14 between the first and second colored transmission regions. At least one of the first and second colored transmission regions has the gradient of optical density with respect to a normal direction z along arbitrary directions x, y within a plane from a contact part with the light shielding region.
