<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for a plasma display panel capable of being used as a dielectric material for an address electrode protection material and a barrier-rib material, and also capable of baking the material for address electrode protection and the barrier-rib material, a manufacturing method of a rear-face glass substrate for the plasma display panel, and a rear-face glass substrate for a plasma display panel manufactured by the method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the material for the plasma display panel containing glass powder and ceramic powder, the glass powder is composed of glass not substantially containing PbO, and containing ZnO by 25 to 50%, B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>by 15 to 26%, SiO<SB>2</SB>by 15 to 25%, Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>by 0 to 13%, BaO by 0 to 10%, Li<SB>2</SB>O+Na<SB>2</SB>O+K<SB>2</SB>O by 5 to 16%, and CuO by 0 to 2% in mass percentage with a mass ratio of SiO<SB>2</SB>/B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>of 0.8 to 1.3, and a mol ratio of Na<SB>2</SB>O/K<SB>2</SB>O of 0.4 to 4.
