PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the man-hour required for version upgrading by enabling existing devices to correspond to a new device without version upgrading of their softwares whenever the new device is used. SOLUTION: A recorder 24 includes a camera information database 26 for storing device information regarding product numbers or functions of connection devices, such as network cameras 11, 12, or decoders 20, 22. The recorder causes a network control unit 241 to inquire with respect to the connection device which is required to be newly registered or which has been registered so as to obtain the device information. The device information obtained by a comparison-operation unit 242 is compared with the information in the camera information database 26. When the obtained device information does not exist in the camera information database 26 or is new to the database, the device information is added, changed or the like so as to update the camera information database 26.
