<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agitating device for columnar improvement, which enables a columnar improved pile excellent in quality to be formed even on the ground containing high-viscosity soil, by mixing excavated sediment with a solidification material while finely agitating the excavated sediment. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This agitating device 10 for columnar improvement, which forms the columnar improved pile by agitating and mixing the excavated sediment and the solidification material together in the ground, comprises: a rotating shaft 11 which is equipped with a circulation passage for the solidification material in a flowing state, and which is attached to a drive unit so as to ascend/descend while rotating; a drilling blade 12 which is provided at the leading end of the rotating shaft 11; at least one pair of agitating blades 13 which overhang to both radial sides from the rotating shafts 11 above the drilling blade 12; and an anti-corotation blade 14 which is rotatably attached to the rotating shaft 11 between the drilling blade 12 and the lower agitating blade 13. The pair of agitating blades 13 is formed in such a shape that a projected area in a view from above is equivalent to 15-35% of a cross-sectional area of an approximately-circular cross-section agitation area S wherein the pair of agitating blades 13 is rotated.
