<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving picture processing unit for correcting image sway in a moving shot by image processing without requiring any large facilities, and to provide a method of processing a moving picture. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The moving picture processing unit has: an extraction means 120 for obtaining a parameter value at each time slot of a moving picture; an ideal parameter calculation means 130 for performing statistical processing to the obtained parameter value at each time slot to calculate an ideal parameter at each time slot; and an image memory 100 for holding new and old images. In the moving picture processing unit, the amount of correction is calculated based on a parameter obtained by the parameter extraction means 120 and an ideal parameter value calculated by the ideal parameter calculation means 130, an image held in the image memory 100 is converted, and a new ideal parameter is obtained every time when an extraction parameter is input to the ideal parameter calculation means 130.
