摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a torque shift by preventing a trunnion from tilting due to difference in strength between links across the upper ends and lower ends of the trunnion. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the frictional wheel type continuously variable transmission, the distance D<SB>U</SB>between a low strength upper link 16 and the rotary axis O<SB>3</SB>of input and output disks 4, 6 is greater than the distance D<SB>L</SB>between a high strength lower link 17 and the input and output rotary axis O<SB>3</SB>by ΔD. A thrust load F applied on a power roller 8 is F<SB>U</SB>=äD<SB>L</SB>/(D<SB>U</SB>+D<SB>L</SB>)}×F for the upper link 16, and F<SB>L</SB>=äD<SB>U</SB>/(D<SB>U</SB>+D<SB>L</SB>)}×F for the lower link 17. Because of D<SB>U</SB>D<SB>L</SB>, the load F<SB>U</SB>to the low strength lower link 16 is smaller than the load F<SB>L</SB>to the high strength lower link 17 by a quantity corresponding to (ΔD=D<SB>U-</SB>D<SB>L</SB>), and an elastic deformation amount due to the load F<SB>U</SB>of the low strength upper link 16 is the same as the elastic deformation amount due to the load F<SB>L</SB>of the high strength lower link 17, and the trunnion 14 is not tilted, so that the torque shift can be avoided.
