<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly restrain the generation of an abnormal sound and an increase of the rotational resistance of a steering apparatus for a vehicle. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This steering apparatus 1 for the vehicle has a decelerating mechanism 24 as a transmission mechanism including a worm 43 and a worm wheel 27 engaged with each other, a housing 29 storing the transmission mechanism and a cylinder body 65 for lubricant splashing prevention held in the housing 29 and to surround an outer periphery 62 of the worm 43 by forming a clearance 66. The worm 43 and the worm wheel 27 are engaged with each other through a slit 67 formed at the cylinder body 65. The slit 67 of the cylinder body 65 is positioned in the circumferential direction U2 of the worm 43 as a projection 71 as an engaging part formed at the cylinder body 65 is engaged with a recessed part 72 as a positioning part formed at the housing 29.
