PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of any change in the engine speed with the sense of incongruity by executing the synchronization of the clutch rotation corresponding thereto when a speed change lever passes through an operational position determination zone of a speed change stage in which any power gear train is not changed by the diagonal shift operation. SOLUTION: A manual transmission is subjected to the 4→3 speed change, and the input number of rotation Ni of a transmission is increased as shown in the figure. The rotation synchronization control of a clutch is permitted during t4 in which Ni is increased byΔN from the input number of rotation Ni (4-speed) of the four-speed corresponding transmission. Due to this permission, the engine speed Ne is controlled as shown in the figure to synchronize the first and second number of rotation of the clutch. When the speed change lever passes through a 3-speed operational position determination zone by the diagonal shift operation from the 4-speed position to the 5-speed position, any increaseΔN of Ni does not occur, and the control of the clutch rotation synchronization is not permitted. Thus, any sense of incongruity that the engine speed is increased by the synchronization control can be avoided even during the 4→5 speed change operation in which the engine speed is dropped.
