PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device for preventing over-current of an induction coil on an energizing circuit, and also, preventing the temperature drop of a heated member upon changing the width of a magnetic circuit exerting on the member to be heated, and to provide an image forming apparatus equipped with the fixing device. SOLUTION: In the fixing device and the image forming apparatus, upon changing the width of the magnetic circuit that exerts on the member to be heated by moving a magnetic member, a switching control of the power supply to the induction coil is continued (whether to apply induction heating (c)), and the magnetic member is continuously moved (whether to drive a core drive motor (d)) under the condition that the magnetic flux of the magnetic circuit exerting on the member to be heated is within a predetermined range near zero.
