<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of shortening total combustion period without increasing smoke even if a plurality of times of divided injection are performed during one cycle. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This device is provided with a fuel supply device 10 capable of directly injecting fuel by dividing it into a plurality of times into a combustion chamber near compression top dead center of each cylinder during one cycle, and a flame position control means 21 controlling flame position by previous stage injection and flame position by next stage injection by using the fuel supply device 10 in such a manner that the flame position by the previous stage and the flame position by the next stage injection do not spatially overlap while a period of time when flame by the previous stage injection exists and a period of time when flame by the next stage injection exists overlap.
