<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dense ceramic having a dense and useful rugged surface without applying a work on a mold, carrying out operation requiring complicated work or necessitating post-work to a resultant pressed body or a fired material, and also to provide a method of manufacturing by which the ceramic is directly provided. <P>SOLUTION: The pressed body for the fired body, from which the dense ceramic member provided with a flat surface formed to have fine ruggedness and having ≥90% relative density is provided by firing, is formed by pressing granulated particle raw material powder (0.3-2 μm primary particle diameter) and includes the flat surface on which a surface pattern of a paper using plant fiber as a raw material or a sheet having many particles stuck on a surface of one base material using as the base material the paper or a cloth using the plant fiber as the raw material, is transferred.
