<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording compound suitable for digital volume holography having large recording capacity and high sensitivity, an optical recording composition containing the optical recording compound, and a holographic recording medium enabling ultra-high density optical recording by using the optical recording compound. <P>SOLUTION: The optical recording compound is expressed by general formula (I) and exhibits a molar absorbance coefficient of ≥5,000 mol×l×cm<SP>-1</SP>at wavelength λ<SB>1</SB>nm within an absorption spectrum ranging from 200 to 1,000 nm. In the general formula (I), R<SP>1</SP>is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, and Z<SP>1</SP>is an atom group forming a ring structure with an adjacent carbon atom, a sulfur atom and a carbon atom bonded to the sulfur atom. Also provided are an optical recording composition and a holographic recording medium containing the optical recording compound, and a method for recording and reproducing information by using the holographic recording medium. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
