IMAGE READING APPARATUS, CONTROLLER, AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce occurrence of poor image reading in the image reading apparatus where a light emitting element is used as an optical source.

SOLUTION: An illumination unit 311 illuminates an original document plane by an LED array 311c with a plurality of high brightness white light emitting diodes arranged in rows while using the detected result by a detection sensor 313 for detecting the position of the original document plane. The illumination unit 311 is set at an angular position where light emitted from an optical axis of the LED array 311c and reflected by the original document plane is not received by a CCD image sensor.
