摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out a process suitable to each operation of an imaging apparatus by taking into consideration that color display becomes impossible when color mixing occurs in an adding process, even though a high-speed process which is possible through the adding process of each picture element signal or a thinning process is used to cope with the fact that a required signal processing amount in an imaging operation increases as the number of picture elements of an imaging element increases. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus has: an imaging element configured with a plurality of picture elements in a two-dimensional array, the each picture element having a color filter of a plurality of colors; and a distance measuring means that detects high frequency components in a video signal as focal point evaluation values, and drives a focusing lens based on the focal point evaluation values to carry out focal point adjustment. Readout of all picture elements, additive readout of adjacent picture elements, and additive readout of the same color picture elements are possible in a readout operation of the picture element signal of the imaging element.
