<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flash control device capable of setting proper intensities of optical communication in accordance with photographing conditions. <P>SOLUTION: The flash control device includes: a signal/flash emitting part 17 capable of emitting an optical signal and a flash; power determining parts 51 and 52 for determining a state of supply of power from an attached external power supply device 70; a flash determining part 31 for determining whether or not the signal/flash emitting part performs flash light emission when photographing after it emits the optical signal; and communication intensity deciding parts 38 and 54 deciding, based on determination results from the power determining parts and the flash determining part, the intensity of the optical signal to be emitted by the signal/flash emitting part. The communication intensity deciding part decides the intensity of the optical signal to first intensity after considering energy necessary for the flash light emission when the flash control device is not provided with the external power supply device and the signal/flash emitting part performs the flash light emission, decides the intensity of the optical signal to the intensity of light emission greater than the first intensity when the flash control device is not provided with the external power supply device and the signal/flash emitting part does not perform the flash light emission, and decides the intensity of the optical signal to the intensity of light emission greater than the first intensity whether the signal/flash emitting part performs the flash light emission or not when the flash control device is provided with the external power supply device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
