<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an optical module that is more reduced in height and is miniaturized than in the prior art. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the optical module 1 including a VCSEL 20 inside includes: an installation step of installing the VCSEL 20 inside a package 10 having an opening 11; a connection step of electrically connecting an electrode 22 of the VCSEL 20 to a terminal of the package 10 by a wire 2; and a sealing step of deforming the loop of the wire 2 by cover glass 40 and sealing the opening 11.
