<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the stability of separation while preventing uneven glossiness by stabilizing the front end position of a slide sheet. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This fixing device has a fixing member 20 having a heating source, a pressing belt 21 equipped with two or more support members inside, and a pressing roller 26 pressing the fixing member from the belt inner surface and a fitting member 27 at least inside the pressing belt. The fitting member has an elastic layer, which has a projection part pressed against the pressing roller on the downstream side. The fixing device has a slide sheet covering the elastic layer outer periphery of the fitting member, and a sheet guide member which guides the slide sheet upstream of the fitting member. The nip downstream part of the slide sheet is arranged so as to be pressed by the pressing roller.
