<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical irradiation device in which the uniformity of irradiation intensity distribution of light is enhanced when a plane is irradiated with light. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The optical irradiation device includes: a light source; an optical fiber bundle 1 which propagates the light from the light source; and a hollow tube 4 mounted on the end part of the emission face 8 side of the optical fiber bundle, wherein the inner face 6 of the hollow tube 4 reflects the light emitted from the emission face 8 and allows the light emit from an open part 5, the cross sections of the emission face 8 of the optical fiber bundle 1 and the inner face 6 of the hollow tube 4 are circular. In the light intensity distribution of emission light on at least one measurement axis P located on a vertical plane apart from the open part 5 of the emission side of the hollow tube 4 by 1 mm in the optical axis C direction, the light intensity at the point O at which the measurement axis P intersects with the optical axis C is defined as the central light intensity, and the irradiation diameter is defined as the length of the region in which the light intensity on the measurement axis P is 95% of or larger than the central light intensity, then the irradiation diameter is 35% of or larger than the diameter d of the emission face 8 of the optical fiber bundle 1.
