<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing methanol from a biomass, by gasifying the biomass, synthesizing the methanol under low pressure and efficiently producing the methanol. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This method for producing the methanol from the biomass is provided by gasifying the biomass S and also temporarily storing the biomass gas G1 in a gas tank 2, spraying a cleaning liquid W into the biomass gas G1 by a cleaning device 4 installed in the gas tank 2, making the biomass gas G1 in contact with the cleaning liquid W, to dissolve and remove unnecessary components for the methanol synthesis from the biomass gas G1.
