<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor light emitting device that is allowed to use pumping light of high energy to output visible light of high luminous flux by suppressing material deterioration and also suppressing a decrease in efficiency due to heat generation. <P>SOLUTION: The semiconductor light emitting device includes a semiconductor light emitting element that emits light of some wavelength within the range from ultraviolet light to visible light, and a visible light emitting body which absorbs the light emitted by the semiconductor light emitting element and outputs visible light, wherein the visible light emitting body includes a substrate, a reflecting layer formed on the substrate and containing white particles, and a light emitting layer formed on the reflecting layer and containing fluorescent particles, wherein the fluorescent particles absorb the light from the semiconductor light emitting element and output the visible light, and also absorb light reaching the white particles from the semiconductor light emitting element and reflected there and output the visible light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
