<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat pump water heater for improving installation performance by reducing an installation area while securing a necessary volume of a hot water storage tank. <P>SOLUTION: This heat pump water heater is composed of a heat pump unit 101 constituted by circularly connecting a compressor 1, a water-refrigerant heat exchanger 2, a throttle valve 3 and an air-refrigerant heat exchanger 4, and filling the same with a refrigerant, and a tank unit 201 constituted by connecting hot water storage tanks 6a, 6b, mixing valves 7a, 7b, a solenoid valve 8 and a circulation pump 9 by piping 16, the heat pump unit 101 is disposed on an upper section of the tank unit 201, and the heat pump unit 101 and the tank unit 201 are composed to be integrated with or separated from each other, that is, the installation area is reduced by integrally installing them.
