<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trocar assembly having a floating housing in which an instrument seal is located in the distal position of the floating housing or in a cannula. <P>SOLUTION: The surgical access assembly includes a cannula adapted so as to permit to be inserted into tissue and access to an underlying tissue site and having a longitudinal axial direction passage for specifying a longitudinal axis and for passing a surgical object so as to position it with respect to the tissue site, a housing installed in the cannula and adapted for a movement in the direction crossing the longitudinal axis, and a seal arranged in the cannula and having a passage to accept the surgical object in a practically sealed relationship. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
