摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make luminance uniform without increasing the overall thickness. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display apparatus 10 includes: a cold cathode tube 23; a planar optical member 22 arranged on the light-emitting side of the cold cathode tube 23; a liquid crystal panel 11 arranged on the light-emitting side of the optical member 22 and performing display by making use of the emitted light; and a holding means holding the liquid crystal panel 11 and the optical member 22 integrally while being close contact with each other. In this way, the liquid crystal panel 11 and the optical member 22 are held by the holding means in the state of close contact with each other and, compared with the conventional way wherein a clearance is formed between the liquid crystal panel and the optical member, a wide interval can be secured between the cold cathode tube 23 and the optical member 22 without increasing the overall thickness of the liquid crystal display apparatus 10.
