PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the information of a desired program quickly and accurately. SOLUTION: In a controlling apparatus for displaying an electronic program guide, a region X1 for displaying a day and the day of a week is disposed at the left end of a picture plane of the controlling apparatus. On the right side thereof, a region X2 for displaying a time is disposed. On right side of the region X2, a region Y for displaying the title of a program, and the like is disposed. On the right side thereof, a region Z for displaying a genre is disposed. The information displayed in each of the respective regions are arranged in a line and in the longitudinal direction of the picture plane, and the information of a desired program can be selected by moving one of cursors 100X1, 100X2, 100Y, and 100Z of the respective regions.
