The device has a fuel cell stack (1) with a set of individual cells clamped between end plates (3, 4), where one of the end plates is elongated at a side over the fuel cell stack. The fuel cell stack and a power electronics (2) are connected by the elongated end plate. One of the end plates has a pressure disk, which is connected with a housing plate by a spring. An electric connection is provided between the pressure disk and the housing plate and is movable in an axial direction. The power electronics and the fuel cell stack are connected to a mechanical module by the end plates.
