<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small bi-directional clutch capable of transmitting a large rotary torque with low costs and a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: This bi-directional clutch comprises an input member 1, an output member 3, an intermediate member 5, and a housing member 13 for housing the input member 1, the output member 3, the intermediate member 5 and a rolling member 7. A rotary driving force from the input member 1 is transmitted to the output member 3, and an external force from the output member 3 is not transmitted to the input member 1. The input member 1 is displaced by the rotary driving force acting on the input member 1 with its rotary center as a reference, so that the intermediate member 5 is moved in a radially outward direction, to change a gap between the output member 3 and the intermediate member 5.
