PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical portal device. SOLUTION: The surgical portal device includes a portal casing, a slender portal member and a seal member. The portal member is connected to the portal casing and hangs from the portal casing. The portal member demarcates the center longitudinal axis. The seal member includes an elastic material and is attached to the portal casing. The seal member includes a preceding surface and a following surface and an inner side part which demarcates a pathway for permitting passage of a surgical object. One of the preceding surface and the following surface demarcates a plurality of recessed cells formed within mutually connected struts. The mutually connected struts are relatively flexible in such a way as to bend to substantially retain the seal around the surgical object while permitting corresponding movement of the pathway when the object is operated in the radial direction off the center.
