<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lash adjuster in which any oil film by a squeeze effect hardly occurs between the pressure side flank of a male screw thread and the pressure side flank of a female screw thread. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The lash adjuster 1 is provided with a nut member 14 having a female screw thread 15 on the inner periphery thereof, an adjusting screw 17 having on the outer periphery thereof a male screw thread 16 engaging with the female screw thread 15, and a return spring 19 for urging the adjusting screw 17 in the projecting direction from the nut member 14. When an axial load in a direction in which the adjusting screw 17 is pushed into the nut member 14 is applied to the adjusting screw 17, the axial load is received by the pressure side flanks 25, 27 of the male screw thread 16 and the female screw thread 15. The flank angle α of the pressure side flank 25 of the male screw thread 16 and the flank angle β of the pressure side flank 27 of the female screw thread 15 are set to be different from each other.
