<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an observer on a car with position information about animals inside a safari park in real time. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A position detection system 1 includes a portable terminal 2, a base station 3, a management server 4, and a portable telephone 5. The portable terminal 2 is attached to the animals and the cars inside the safari park and transmits a terminal ID specific to the portable terminal 2. The base station 3 is installed at each place inside the safari park, receives a terminal ID from the portable terminal 2 within a communicable range, and transmits the terminal ID and its own base station ID to a management server 4. The management server 4 is installed at a management office of the safari park, collects terminal ID and base station ID from respective base stations 3, creates map information indicating positions of the animals and cars inside the safari park, and allows it to be browsed from outside. The portable telephone 5 is for the observer to check positions of the animals or their cars, receives the map information from the management server 4, displays it, receives attribute data of the animals from the management server 4 in response to icon selection by the observer, and displays it.
