<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily display an image printed on a transparent display plate, with high image quality. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image is preliminarily printed on a surface of the transparent display plate in transparent ink having light scattering particulates dispersed therein. When light is made incident on the inside of the display plate from an end surface of the display plate, the light is propagated in the display plate while being repeatedly reflected by the surface of the display plate, so that a portion where the image is printed in the transparent ink is made luminous. The image is printed in the transparent ink having light scattering particulates dispersed therein after a grayscale value of image data is compressed at a prescribed rate equal to or lower than 50%, so that the degradation of image quality due to glare of end surfaces of an ink layer can be suppressed because the area or the number of end surfaces of the ink layer is reduced.
