<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transceiver which stably couples an optical module and a receptacle to each other. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The optical transceiver has the optical module, the receptacle, and a base. The receptacle defines a space for optically coupling the optical module and an optical fiber to each other. The base is mounted with the optical module. The optical module has a package and an optical coupling portion. The package contains a light emitting element and a light receiving element which are optically coupled to a single optical fiber. The optical coupling portion receives the package, and has a flange and a neck at an outer periphery thereof. The receptacle has a wall having a bored opening for receiving the optical coupling portion. The base has a U-shaped cut where the neck portion of the optical coupling unit is set and a front wall provided with projections on both sides of the cut.
