The thermal engine (1) has a displacement cylinder (2) comprising a cold area (4) and a hot area (5). A heat discharging unit (9) is movable back and forth between the cold area and the hot area. An operating unit (16) comprising fluid (17) i.e. water (18), interacts with a displacement piston (3). The displacement piston, the heat discharging unit and the operating unit are arranged in an inner side of the cylinder, such that the displacement piston, the heat discharging unit and the operating unit interact with one another.
