The present invention relates to a light-emitting device that includes a clad layer by repeated lamination of a unit, which has an asymmetrical energy bandgap on upper and lower sides of an active layer. Therefore, the light-emitting device that uses the clad layer consisting of asymmetric units is able to freely control the injection of both electrons and holes into the active layer to improve the internal quantum efficiency. The light-emitting device according to the present invention is characterized by including the clad layer on at least one of the upper and lower sides of the active layer, wherein the clad layer consists of one or plural units, wherein the units have a structure that the first, the second, and the nth unit layers (n is a natural number which is 3 or larger) having different energy bandgaps are sequentially laminated, and have an asymmetric energy band diagram.
