<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which has a cover supporting structure absorbing a drop impact while downsizing the printer. <P>SOLUTION: The printer includes: a printing body for performing the printing on a print medium; at least one side plate to which the printing body is attached; and a housing for covering the printing body, wherein the housing is composed of: a release cover which is attached openably and closably so as to cover the upper part of the printing body; and first cover and second cover for covering parts other than the release cover. Further, at least one side plate has a bearing part for rotatably supporting both ends of the release cover. The bearing part has a cut-off shape at least a part of which is opened.
