<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power conversion device capable of preventing the overcharge of a DC capacitor without attaching an appended circuit like a DC overvoltage suppression circuit. <P>SOLUTION: The power conversion device includes: a three-level DC power supply 13; positive-side and negative-side DC capacitors 5U1 to 5W2 to which electric power is supplied from this DC power supply; a three-level inverter 14, which converts a three-level DC voltage into an AC one and drives an AC motor 15; an inverter control means 40, which supplies gate pulses to switching elements 1U1 to 1W4 constituting the three-level inverter 14; and a first element damage detection means, which detects a short circuit failure of main circuit elements constituting the three-level inverter 14. The inverter control means 40 outputs a gate arc-extinguishing signal to the switching elements outside the three-level inverter 14 and a gate ignition signal to the switching elements inside when the first element damage detection means detects the short circuit failure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
