PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system for suppressing the leakage of light from a hole portion, and to provide a display and TV receiving equipment. SOLUTION: A backlight device 12 includes a cold cathode tube 18, a lamp clip 20 for holding the cold cathode tube 18, a chassis 14 having a bottom plate 14a on which the lamp clip 20 is mounted and in which a mounting hole 21 is opened, and a mounting part 27 provided on the lamp clip 20 movably into the mounting hole 21 and having lower light transmissibility than exposed portions of the lamp clip 20 (a lamp gripping portion 25, a supporting pin 26 and a surface side portion 24a of a body part 24) exposed to the side of the cold cathode tube 18.
