PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize speed of image processing and an image processing result when both of a digital camera and a printer have detection functions of face regions. SOLUTION: Image data is input, and a type of image processing selected from among various image processing is discriminated (S1401-1402). A face region to be used for the image processing is determined as either of a first face region or a second face region according to the discriminated type of image processing (S1403-1404, 1406). When the face region to be used is determined as the second face region, the second face region of an image is newly detected (S1405).
