PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a passenger conveyer traveling at lower speed than a fixed traveling speed before stopping, after predetermined time has passed since an abnormal state is released, after the passenger conveyer is stopped by the action of a safety device. SOLUTION: The passenger conveyer 10 comprises a normal returning type cutout switch 60 detecting an abnormal condition of the passenger conveyer 10 and returning to a normal condition when the detection of the abnormal condition disappears; and a control device 90 accelerating the passenger conveyer 10 at the lower speed than the fixed traveling speed before stopping by re-starting the passenger conveyer 10 after a predetermined time has passed since stopping, due to normal returning of the normal returning type cutout switch 60, after the normal return type cutout switch 60 has stopped the passenger conveyor 10 by abnormality detection.
