PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method easily producing a cement admixture which has high dispersion performance, gives a cured cement product excellent in strength and durability, and prevents fluidity from deteriorating at high temperature. SOLUTION: The method for producing a cement admixture includes: preparing an unsaturated (poly)alkyleneglycol ether-based monomer (a) in the presence of a compound having active hydrogen other than unsaturated alcohols; and producing a copolymer (A) by conducting a copolymerization reaction using, as a starting material, a composition containing a monomer component containing the unsaturated (poly)alkyleneglycol ether-based monomer (a) and an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid-based monomer (b) as essential components, and a water-soluble polyalkyleneglycol (C) both ends of which are hydrogen atoms.
