<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical signal switching device with few optical parts, an optical communications network combined with the device, having high reliability, capable of long-distance transmission, and having an economical structure, and to provide a method which uses them. <P>SOLUTION: The optical signal switching device basically has a simplex structure, and divides optical signals into optical signals which pass inside the device and optical signals which are inserted or branched by the device, and only inserting/branching processing is performed in a redundant section. The optical communications network has a structure in which a plurality of optical signal switching devices and optical transmission lines are arranged so that each of the optical signals made redundant by a device to which the optical signals are inserted passes through a different optical transmission line and device; and optical signals which each device passes are processed in a simplex section of the device, though depending on the optical signal switching device and a route setting of the optical transmission line, the optical communications network as a whole transmits redundant optical signals and ensures reliability. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
