<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alloy casting having a protective layer disposed on a surface of the casting. <P>SOLUTION: Regarding the method, the surface 16 of a casting 12 is provided with a continuous natural oxide layer, the same is resistant to liquid metal attack, and wherein the protective layer 14 forms an inside film in the die including chromia, niobia, titania, tantala, silica, zircon, yttria or their combination as the oxides of elements present in the alloy, and the protective layer is formed on the surface of the alloy casting. The method includes disposing the alloy in a mold, and oxidizing an element of the alloy to form a protective layer on the surface of the casting. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
