ELECTRODELESS DISCHARGE LAMP LIGHTING DEVICE AND LIGHTING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless discharge lamp lighting device capable of reducing an electric stress applied to a circuit component at the time of staring.

SOLUTION: There are provided an induction coil that is placed closely to the electrodeless discharge lamp, a direct current power supply circuit that outputs a direct current power, and an inverter circuit that converts the direct current power output from the direct current power supply circuit into an alternating-current power to be supplied to the induction coil. When staring the electrodeless discharge lamp, the inverter circuit starts the output of a voltage Vx to the induction coil before the voltage value Vdc of the output voltage from the direct current power supply circuit reaches a constant voltage Vs. The electric stress applied to the circuit component when the inverter circuit starts the output of the voltage Vx to the induction coil is reduced at the time of staring in comparison with the case in which the inverter circuit starts the output of the voltage Vx to the induction coil after the voltage value Vdc of the output voltage from the direct current power supply circuit reaches the constant voltage Vs.
