PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a current value of a drive current to a constant value or below while constantly reducing a sound pressure level in a compressor. SOLUTION: This air compressor includes a compressed air generating means for generating compressed air, a tank for reserving the compressed air generated by the compressed air generating means, a motor means for driving the compressed air generating means, control means 5, 20 for controlling driving quantities of the motor means, a current detection means 28 for detecting a drive current value used for driving the motor means, and a rotational speed detection means 18 for detecting the rotational speed of the motor means. The control means 5, 20 adjust a value of target rotational speed by increasing and reducing the value of the target rotational speed in the motor means based on the drive current value detected by the current detection means 28, and perform control over the driving quantity of the motor means based on a rotational speed difference between the adjusted target rotational speed and the rotational speed of the motor means detected by the rotational speed detection means 18.
