PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus allowing a monitor to simulate the degree of fading of printed matter. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes: a setting means for setting conditions of simulation; a first conversion means for converting image data to be simulated into data indicating color material information; a second conversion means for converting data indicating the converted color material information into data indicating target chromaticity information; a third conversion means for converting data indicating the converted color material information into data indicating the degree of fading by the chromaticity information; a simulating means for simulating a faded color in accordance with a condition set by the setting means by using the data converted by the second conversion means and the data converted by the third conversion means; and a display means for displaying the simulated faded color and a target color in parallel.
